Who WE Work With

We believe that as human beings we are all naturally oriented towards growth and healing. We also understand that part of being human is to know suffering. Therapy is one of many ways that we can facilitate movement towards healing as we redefine how we relate to our own experience of suffering. Our therapists have experience working the following presentations:

  • Anxiety

  • Depression

  • Body image dissatisfaction

  • Binge Eating Disorder

  • Bulimia

  • Anorexia

  • Chronic dieting

  • Grief and loss

  • Trauma & PTSD

  • Sexual abuse

  • Women’s issues

  • LGBTQ issues

  • Career counseling

  • Life transitions

  • Relationship issues

  • Self-esteem

Intuitive Eating, Health at Every Size, & Body Liberation

All of our therapists utilize a lens of body liberation and Health at Every Size in their work with clients. We are about helping clients make food “less of a thing” as we often say. Many of us can become preoccupied with making the “right” or “healthiest” food choices and this can lead to unnecessary stress, chronic dieting, weight cycling, and disordered eating. And this preoccupation makes sense. We live in a world that puts a lot of pressure on bodies, especially bodies of those socialized as women, to conform to a narrow ideal that is unattainable for most of us. We focus on helping our clients learn how to thoughtfully attend to their hunger cues, bodily sensations, and overall well-being while simultaneously working to challenge the systems that repeatedly value some bodies more than others.

Intuitive Eating is a paradigm that helps us to connect with our body's inner wisdom, reject the diet mentality, and make peace with food. It is designed to help those who struggle with the following:

  • Feelings of guilt related to food

  • Restrictive eating

  • History of binge eating

  • A desire to reduce stress related to eating

  • Chronic dieting

  • Self-esteem issues

  • Stress related to food & nutrition

  • Body image concerns

Some of our therapists also have experience working with clients experiencing disordered eating and eating disorders and are honored to work as part of eating disorder treatment teams.

Approach & COllective Values

All of our work with clients is situated within an understanding that systems of oppression impact mental health. We believe that the role of therapy is not to help clients adjust to their oppression but rather to collaboratively build up resources to challenge systems that routinely cause harm to groups and individuals.

Our therapists all have taken time to do their own work on how their various identities and privileges show up in the counseling room. We can work with you to explore how various forms of systemic injustices (e.g. racism, sexism, ablism, fatphobia) impact your lived experiences and invite you to explore how you can take steps towards your values.

We have a specific focus in our practice on supporting members of the LGTBQ+ community and providing informed support for those going through gender transitions.

We understand that the changing climate can feel overwhelming and trigger existential anxiety among our clients, and quite frankly, ourselves. We are happy to explore this in session if it feels relevant to you.

If spirituality is important to you, we are happy to incorporate those values into our work together.

It is an honor for us to do this work and we look forward to connecting with you.
